We currently can only see self and plan managed NDIS clients but, not agency managed clients. NDIS funding can often be used for assessment and counselling services however, it is best to check with your funding manager to ensure you are covered.

• • A GP, Paediatrician or Psychiatrist referral will give you access to up to 10 rebates of $96.65 per calendar year for counselling.

• • The date on this referral will indicate when the rebates can be claimed from so ensure to obtain the referral prior to your first appointment.

• You do not need a referral to see a psychologist unless you wish to claim a Medicare rebate.  

• • Most assessment services rely on private funding, with limited Medicare rebates available. If you’re under 25 and currently receiving care from a pediatrician or psychiatrist, you might qualify for a Medicare rebate under the “Complex neurodevelopmental disorder or eligible disability” scheme. To be eligible, your referral letter must specifically request an assessment for a complex neurodevelopmental disorder. Without this specification, no rebate can be applied. Rebates are only applicable from the date of the referral letter. Please  note that referrals from general practitioners (GPs) for assessments typically do not qualify for this rebate unless you have one of the eligible disabilities outlined in the provided link (https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/medicare-items-for-complex-neurodevelopmental-disorders-and-eligible-disabilities#a2).  
  • Additionally, GP mental health treatment plans cannot be used for assessments .

Please note that a rebate can only be claimed ​once per session, (either Private Health or Medicare – not both).

At Ascension Psychology, we provide comprehensive psychological support funded through WorkCover, ensuring that employees experiencing work-related mental health challenges can access psychological support. 

In Victoria WorkCover will generally cover $195.02 of the $215-$225 session fee.  Meaning clients will pay out of pocket a small fee of $20-$25 depending on the practitioner they are seeing.
